It is still one of the greatest wines of the vintage and with many years of pleasure ahead. "Absolutely spectacular, the 1982 Grand Puy Lacoste must be one of the most under- rated wines of the vintage. The color remains an opaque ruby/purple and there is no doubting the level of quality after one sniff and sip. The wine reveals the classic black currant, cedary profile of a Paulliac. Mature, yet tasting young, this massive, sensationally concentrated, full bodied wine offers layers of pure cassis-like fruit that comes across as grapy because of its intensity and youthfulness. It is a thrill to drink even though the wine is still extremely young and only hints at the possibilities that exist with another 5-10 years of cellaring, The finish lasts for 40 seconds or more.
