It's like trying to appreciate the "new kid on the block" blues player without knowing who B.B. King is. The 2001 Valbuena is a classic in the making and must be tasted to be believed. In this great vintage, no 2001 Unico was bottled and therefore, all the juice went into the Valbuena. Don't be fooled by the numerical rating and turn into a "points chaser"..this is serious wine for the serious connoisseur! "The Valbuena offering is a brilliant introduction to the winery. The 2001 is especially good because all of the wine normally reserved for Unico went into this bottling. It has a similar personality to the 2002 but with more of everything as if it has been on an extended workout regimen.
