This
amazing wine has just been
re-released by the chateau
in limited quantities. It is
a great opportunity to grab
one of the great 1982s in absolutely
perfect condition.
"One of the few top Medocs that seems to be close to full maturity, the 1982
Ducru Beaucaillou shows a dense, almost inky, plum/garnet color, a strinking
nose of minerals intermixed with cedar, blackcurrant, autumnal leaves, and spice
box. The wine is chewy and opulent, particularly for a Ducru-Beaucaillou, with
a lot of flesh and concentration. The tannins are still there but are sweet,
and the velvety finish is suggestive of a wine that has entered its plateau of
maturity. A gorgeous effort and certainly the best Ducru-Beaucaillou until the
mid-to late 1990s. Last tasted, 1/03" 95 points Robert Parker
We
Love Figeac! In a great vintage,
like 1982, it can be as compelling
as Cheval Blanc or Ausone.
We have re-tasted this beauty
recently and it has truly blossomed
into one of the stars of this
legendary vintage.
"The fully mature 1982 offers a profoundly complex nose of cedar, smoky tobacco/cigar
box, dried herbs, black currants, licorice, and spice. In the mouth, the wine
does not reveal the huge volume and roasted ripeness found in many of the top
1982s, but it does possess extraordinary complexity, finesse, and harmony. Medium-bodied,
with gorgeously rich fruit, this delicate, subtle, ethereal effort is both well-defined
and intense. It should continue to drink well for 7-10 years, possibly longer."95

This
is truly a wine for the Bordeaux
connoisseur and one we rarely
see on the market in any meaningful
quantities. We have bought
10 perfect cases (see picture)
from a private collection in
Scotland and what a gorgeous
wine it is. Truly a great opportunity
to acquire a beautiful claret
to drink now and over the next
15 years.
"The 1975 Giscours is one of the outstanding successes for the vintage. Close
to full maturity, it exhibits a powerful, well-balanced style. The color remains
a healthy dark garnet. The wine possesses rich, concentrated fruit, full body,
admirable ripeness, and an overall sense of balance despite strong tannin in
the finish. This thick, rich Giscours may be the finest wine made between 1970-1994.
It will continue to drink well for another 15+ years. Should readers see this
wine at auction, it will probably sell for a low price. It is a classic, top-flight
1975." 92 points R. Parker
These
beautiful Magnums have just
been released by the chateau
and they are in absolutely
pristine condition. We have
bought fifteen cases and five
remain. Don't miss this amazing
wine in this rare size and
this kind of provenance.
Absolutely spectacular, the 1982 Grand Puy
Lacoste must be one of the most under-rated
wines of the vintage. The color remains an
opaque ruby/purple and there is no doubting
the level of quality after one sniff and
sip. The wine reveals the classic black currant,
cedary profile of a Paulliac. Mature, yet
tasting young, this massive, sensationally
concentrated, full bodied wine offers layers
of pure cassis-like fruit that comes across
as grapy because of its intensity and youthfulness.
It is a thrill to drink even though the wine
is still extremely young and only hints at
the possibilities that exist with another
5-10 years of cellaring, The finish lasts
for 40 seconds or more. Potentially, this
is the greatest Grand Puy Lacoste of the
last three decades. A tour de force in winemaking!Last
tasted, 9/02." 95 points Robert Parker
The
1990 is one of the greatest
wines ever produced at this
famous chateau along with the
1961, 1982, 1986 and 2000.
This perfect stock is directly
from the chateau in original
wooden cases.
"This wine continues to get better and better and is certainly one of the great
successes in what is a profound vintage for Bordeaux. While the wine still tastes
young, it is already complex, with so much sweet tannin and lavish fruit that
it is impossible to resist, even though it probably will not hit its plateau
of maturity for another 5-6 years. A stunning nose of licorice, earth, cedar,
provencal herbs, black currants, asphalt, and cherries soars from the glass.
Full-bodied, opulent, with fabulous concentration, a seamless texture, and ramarkable
stuffing and power, this low acid, thick, almost viscous wine can be drunk now
or cellared for at least another two decades. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020.

This
is a fantastic Haut Brion that
only the truly passionate would
seek and appreciate. Not a
wine the novice would jump
on at auctions but, if you
ever drank a bottle, you would
know how incredibly delicious
it still is and how youthful.
These bottles came from a perfect
cellar in Scotland and they
are in gorgeous condition.
A few magnums are also available.
Please inquire.
We've
always known that this wine
would eventually turn out as
great as the other First Growths.
Jean Delmas always compared
it to the 1959 and he was right.
Recently Robert Parker stated
that he's starting to agree
and re-rated it 96 points.
We have tasted the wine three
times in the last month and
it has been incredible each
time.
"Robert Parker's Hedonist's Gazette - January 2005 Dinner. "...We then did a
mini-horizontal of the five first-growths of the 1982 vintage. Haut-Brion seems
to get better and better every time I taste it, leading me to believe I under-rated
it. I am beginning to agree with Jean Delmas, who has always compared it to the
1959, I wine I have consistently rated (at least from pristine bottles) 100 points." Rating:

"This
wine has been brilliant on every
occasion I have tasted it. More
accessible and forward than the
1996, it possesses a saturated
ruby/purple color, as well as
a beautiful, knock-out set of
aromatics, consisting of black
fruits, vanillin, spice, and
wood-fire smoke. Multidimensional
and rich, with layers of ripe
fruit, and beautifully integrated
tannin and acidity, this medium
to full-bodied wine is a graceful,
seamless, exceptional Haut-Brion
that should drink surprisingly
well young."97 pts Robert

I
know we will be looking back,
10-15 years from now and wishing
we had kept some of this amazing
in our cellars. This is a mindblowing
2000 that every collector should
own a few bottles of. We have
just received a few six packs,
directly from the chateau so,
move quickly because they will
sell out fast.
"Dense ruby/purple, with a glorious nose of blackberries, cassis, white flowers,
licorice, and a hint of sweet oak, this seamless wine is a classic example of
purity and symmetry. Combining power with charm and finesse in a deeply textured,
rich, elegant, yet authoritatively flavorful style, this is a brilliant effort
as well as a compliment to proprietor Christian Moueix. Sadly, there are only
1,500 cases of this fabulous offering. It displays a singular style reminiscent
of a hypothetical blend of Cheval Blanc and L'Evangile, the famous St.-Emilion
and equally renowned Pomerol situated across from each other. Anticipated maturity:
2007-2020." 96 points R. Parker
"A
tremendous effort, and certainly
the best La Conseillante since
the marvelous duo of 1989 and
1990, this deep ruby/plum/purple-colored
wine offers up notes of blackberries
and kirsch liqueur intermixed
with licorice, incense, spice
box, and copious amounts of toasty
oak. It is a relatively powerful
effort for La Conseillante, with
more tannin and structure than
most vintages possess. As the
wine sits in the glass, black
raspberries, blueberries, smoke
along with floral notes emerge.
There is tremendous purity, medium
to full body, great precision
and concentration. Unlike most
vintages of La Conseillante,
the 2000 will require patience.
A bottle kept open refused to
oxidize until day six! Anticipated
maturity: 2008-2025."96 points
