It's easier to complain about some of Bordeaux most sought after, rarest wines and their high prices than actually open one's mind to the many tremendous values that this region still has to offer. It comes as no surprise that the vintage on the move is 2004, since it was bought with a stronger dollar and by comparison 2005s and 2006s are 50-100% more expensive. For Bordeaux lovers looking to do some smart buying the best 2004s truly offer the best QPR (Quality/Price Ratio) and that's something we may not see again for a while.
This wonderful Grand Cru St Emilion is a property on the rise and the 2004 is a small gem that's an absolute steal at this level. We highly recommend it!
"Primarily a blend of 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, Fleur Cardinale is an up-and-comer in St.-Emilion. Moreover the wine remains reasonably priced for such impeccably well-made Bordeaux. The 2004 is outstanding, revealing sweet black currant fruit, cedar, and spice characteristics. These beauties can be consumed during their first 10 to 12 years of life." 92 points Robert Parker (BusinessWeek May 21st 2007)
